Software Engineering Internship

Join the Model Development and Quant Capital Markets team within Handelsbanken in providing our business with advanced technological solutions within the fields of mathematical modeling and software development.

The role offers the opportunity to approach technical challenges with sophisticated solutions in cooperation with experienced team members while seated on the trading floor (dependent on Covid situation). The close collaboration with the trading desks creates a vibrant work environment based on initiative and innovation, making the internship a unique opportunity for students to put academic knowledge into practice.

Our Team

The Model Development and Quant Capital Markets team is responsible for developing valuation models, index models, tools for pricing, high performance trading functionality, simulation models and machine learning solutions. We also play a central role in the area of investment advice through our expertise in building simulation models.

We are situated on the trading floor and work in close cooperation with trading desks as well as the risk management, risk control and treasury departments.

Your role

You, as a software engineering intern, will be working with development and improvement of technical solutions under the support and guidance of skilled team members. The work process will cover the whole development life cycle from analysis and investigation through to implementation.

About you
  • You have a passion for using programming to build high quality applications
  • You have an interest in mathematics
  • You are currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • You are in the 2nd – 4th year of your university studies
  • You constantly want to learn new skills and have strong academic results

The internship will best fit someone who is team oriented, self-reliant and driven as well as proactive with their own development. Given the close working relationship with other groups within the bank we value collaboration and communication skills.

The position is from June to August and to make it as mutually rewarding as possible we are looking for candidates who are available full time for at least 8 weeks during that period.
