An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Software Department Manager in one of our Software departments at Kongsberg Discovery. Reporting to the Vice President for R&D in our Marine Life Technologies division, you will be responsible for leading the Software department, which includes the "Software Gamechangers" and "Software Development & Management" teams. As the Department Manager, you will oversee all aspects of software development, including the software product Winson, which supports Simrad Sonars, Echosounders, and more. Your role will involve managing collaboration with cross-divisional internal stakeholders, software product roadmaps, organizing scrum teams, budgeting, and financial follow-up.
Additionally, you will be the team manager for the "Software Gamechangers" team, which consists of 12 people working within SW Architecture, SW Test, DevSecOps, Simulations and Embedded SW. The team members are located in Horten - Norway and Spain.

What you will be doing

• Head of the Software department management team and part of the MLT R&D Management team
• Provide leadership and direction to the Software department, including the "Software Gamechangers" and "Software Development & Management" teams
• Manage and oversee the development and maintenance of the software product Winson
• Leadership with its associated processes, methodology, and tools
• Resource planning and resource management within the department
• Develop and manage budgets and ensure financial follow-up

We think you should have

• Experience with personnel management and leading software teams
• Software product management experience
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Ability to speak Norwegian or English fluently, with a high standard of written English
• Ability to be proactive and responsible
• Interest in becoming an ambassador for the software engineering discipline
