Our Deck Machinery and Motion Control division owns, develops and delivers world class handling solutions, with focus on system solutions and integration driving increased efficiency in our customers' operations. The division is responsible for product and technology development, supply chain operations and project delivery for all Kongsberg Maritime’s winches and handling solutions.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Commercial Marine business for the key role of Slinger/Labourer based at our Dalgety Bay site in Dunfermline.  On site we manufacture stabiliser and steering gear systems for both commercial and naval customers as well as having the capability to service all commercial marine equipment in the UK. The successful candidate will be working within a pool of fitters, responsible for the assembly and testing of our OEM products while also doing service work in the factory overhauling commercial marine equipment.

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for all lifting equipment on site ensuring any defects are dealt with and register is maintained.
  • Responsibility for loading and unloading of vehicles in a safe manner and in accordance with lift plans.
  • Take the lead in ensuring lift plans are in place for all complex lifts.
  • Working with the engineering team, providing the necessary information for creation of lift plans.
  • Providing guidance to workshop employees whilst doing heavy and complex lifts.
  • General labouring and housekeeping activities.
  • Waste management including the emptying of swarf skips etc.

 Qualifications and experience

  • Valid recognised qualification in advanced lifting & Slinging.
  • Valid counterbalance Forklift license (5 Ton).
  • Working at height training would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a heavy engineering environment undertaking complex lifts. 
  • Valid EU Passport or other current permission to work in the UK
