The business unit Energy Management handles one of Europe’s largest hydropower portfolios, with a total installation of more than 11,000 MW in Norway and Sweden, and a relatively smaller set of hydropower plants in Germany, UK, Albania and Turkey. We optimise the value of the hydropower assets by delivering an integrated business process including hydrology, production planning, power trading and market analysis. In addition, we support Statkraft hydropower operations and projects in India and South America.

The department Water, Weather and Climate (MEW) consists of 20 highly skilled hydrologists and meteorologists responsible for providing weather, climate, and discharge data for energy management. We are responsible for providing Statkraft with meteorological and hydrological data for a wide range of applications and processes. In addition to supporting the energy management process on a daily basis, the MEW department also performs hydrological analyses abroad for securing the long-term value of our assets worldwide. Our main toolbox for providing forecasts is Shyft. We are currently looking for a Senior Hydrologist to strengthen our team.

Your role:

• Contribute to Statkraft’s core business by providing meteorological and hydrological forecasts and analyses  
• Develop and apply tools for data import, quality control, evaluation, and analysis of meteorological and hydrological data
• Prepare model simulations and analyses used for decision support of operational production optimization and analyses for future hydro power production of own assets 
• Work closely together with colleagues in operative production optimalisation with the possibility to participate in operational tasks

Your profile:

• Master’s degree or higher in hydrology or meteorology
• Competence in scripting with particular focus on Python
• Ability to work strategically and systematically and to deliver at a high standard and quality
• Competence and experience with modelling, statistical analyses and use of spatial data sets
• Team-player with good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good at building strong relations across disciplines and organizations
• Good command of the English and Norwegian language, both orally and written
• Any experience from hydropower hydrology in the Nordics is a benefit
