Senior Financial Accountant

Do you have a solid experience with the full finance toolbox where financial controlling and reporting are the corner stone? You will be part of DFDS’ local finance team for the Nordics and the Baltics placed in Gothenburg. The team is responsible for the financial statements of all companies in the Nordics (Sweden, Norway and Finland) and in the Baltics (Estonia, Russia, Latvia and Lithuania). The finance team consists currently of a Team Leader and six dedicated people in Gothenburg and Karlshamn and more than 25 team members placed in the Nordics and the Baltics countries. You will report to the Regional Finance Director, but the daily tasks are managed by Team Leader, who are both based in Gothenburg. There will be close collaboration with the Finance Business Partners for the respective business units as well as colleagues in our Financial Shared Service Center (FSSC) in Poland.

Main responsibilities
• Full responsibility that the financial reporting is completed in due time and with the highest quality and standards for specific legal entities
• Prepare and document the audits and the annual reports of the Swedish legal entities in accordance with Swedish legislation
• Work closely together with the FSSC to secure deadlines and quality are met in the financial reporting, including constantly optimizing/improving the collaboration
• Oversee the accounting processes by FSSC for fixed assets, trade receivables, accruals and financial items
• Participate in finance projects which have the aim to share best practices
• Take an active and driving part in the budgeting processes as a back-up to the Finance Business Partners
• Improve and ensure internal controls and effective accounting procedures combined with DFDS Group compliance requirements
• Secure compliance with Tax and VAT rules
• Secure that all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled and documented as a joint effort with FSSC
• Secure proper and timely reporting to public authorities
• Prepare various material and reporting to/for local management

Whom are we looking for?
You have minimum 5 years of experience from a similar position or solid experience within the finance and accounting area and have a relevant education such as a master’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting or similar.
It is important that you are an expert in general accounting practice; you master “debit and credit” and balance sheet reconciliations; and you have a good understanding of accounting processes from “cradle-to-grave”. We expect you to have very good knowledge in MS Office applications, are a super user in Excel and are used to work in finance systems. Excellent verbal and written Swedish and English are a prerequisite.
As a person you have a systematic and analytical approach to work. You are a result oriented, hands-on and can-do person who is not afraid of varied tasks. You have good communication and interpersonal skills and can work in a team across cultural and national differences. It is important that you can work independently and take responsibility. You are robust and have a good sense of humour.
