In the role as Senior Development Engineer in the Sensing and Automation department, you will be part of a highly competent team within the Technology part of KM’s Automation and Control division.

In our department we have developed and are supporting different sensors for use in maritime applications such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors and our radar level gauge. The radar is also used for density measurements in e.g. liquefied natural gas and liquefied carbon dioxide.

This position will mainly be involved with radar-based measurements of quantity and quality related to commercial values of products transported and stored on seagoing vessels.

Since all our sensors give data input to several maritime applications, good theoretical competence both in mathematics and physics, in addition to radar competence is highly appreciated. You will need this knowledge to understand, explore and develop existing and new applications for our existing radar technology. Signal processing is a central part in all our sensors.

 

What you will be doing

· Build knowledge to improve our company's instrument range for measuring level, density, temperature and pressure.

· Contribute to the work of further developing, renewing and streamlining our radar level gauge in line with current and new safety and market requirements.

· Seek new possibilities for radar applications.

· Cooperate with our software application team for implementation, test and analysis, and contribute to providing good specifications and models.

 

We think you should have

· Relevant MSc or BSc degree.

· Good expertise in radar-based instrumentation all the way from signal generation, signal propagation and echo detection to analysis of the information related to specific signatures generated by the radar.

· The position requires ability to handle mathematical problems and a well-developed insight into the physical properties of solids, liquids and gases. Insight into thermodynamic problems is an advantage.

· Insight into relevant mathematics and simulation tools will be emphasized.
