The position

This newly created position is placed in the Markets & IT business area (known as ‘M’), which has market operations in Europe and the Nordics, but also in South America, India and the USA.  M’s major business activities are energy management, market analysis, and trading & origination.

The Market Regulations Compliance team promotes compliance with laws, rules and regulations pertaining to Statkraft’s activities in energy trading and commodity derivatives markets as adopted by the EU, national governments or other authorities.

• As the team’s compliance lead for Statkraft’s London branch, you will promote compliance with market regulations, check for breaches and advise on incident follow-up and remediation.
• As the team’s regulatory lead for the UK, you will monitor developments in UK law and regulation with respect to energy trading and commodity derivatives markets and ensure the compliance platform reflects those developments.  This includes UK requirements originally derived from REMIT, EMIR, MiFID and MAR/MAD.

You also will:

• Contribute to the team’s assessment of compliance risks at Statkraft and plans to mitigate them
• Advise and train Statkraft personnel on market regulations and compliance issues
• Draft compliance-related documents and/or advise on their content and formulation
• Assess trading alerts and conduct other compliance checks
• Assess and report on any compliance incidents or breaches and advise on remediation
• Communicate with employees, management and regulators with respect to regulatory compliance issues

About you:

• Experience of compliance, regulatory, legal, audit, trading or other relevant experience from energy trading and/or commodity derivatives markets in the UK (any such experience in the US would be beneficial).
• A university degree
• Strong engagement in energy trading, commodity derivatives and related regulatory developments
• Excellent cooperation and communication skills
• Strong team player thriving in a highly competent and enthusiastic working environment
• Proven ability to provide clear and trusted regulatory advice in a commercial trading context
• Fluent in English.  Fluency in Norwegian or another European language would be an advantage
