In Elkem Silicon Products we are developing advanced ferrosilicon-based products for the future low carbon society. The R&D work will focus on fundamental understanding of existing products and development of next generation materials and products for cast iron and steel.

Most important areas of responsibility:

• R&D and product development of advanced ferrosilicon-based materials
• Identify new products and their application in the market
• Lead and manage R&D projects linking process, product, and application in the market
• Develop the necessary R&D methods and knowledge to execute and deliver on assigned projects
• Present internally and externally
• Stay up to date on relevant scientific fields

Qualifications required for the position:

• PhD or Master’s degree in relevant technical area, preferably material science, physics or chemistry
• Preferably special competence within metallurgy, material science or thermodynamics
• Preferably industrial experience / understanding in customer applications and ability to discuss with customer on relevant topics
• Good communication skills in Norwegian and English

We’re seeking a candidate with strong understanding of material properties and processing methods, excellent scientific communication skills and capable of systematic planning and hands-on execution of experiments/casting trials.

The position reports to Foundry R&D Manager Kristiansand, Elkem Silicon Products. Location is Kristiansand, Norway.

Travel activity should be expected.
