Role description

DFDS successfully expanded its intermodal activities during 2022 and has set ambitious targets for future growth.  To drive that growth, we now seek a business development driven person with intermodal Project Management experience for our Intermodal team in Troisdorf Germany. This fulltime position will include the identifying, scoping and managing projects for the expansion and optimisation of the DFDS intermodal network.

Principle responsibilities

• Identify and scope projects for the expansion and optimisation of the DFDS intermodal network.
• Prepare business plan based on scope of work and resource requirements for expansion and optimisation of rail and intermodal services along the entire transport chain (railway undertakers (RU’s), terminals, operator and others).
• Manage contracts management with clients & partners (RU’s, terminals and operators) by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
• Prepare make-or-buy-analyses for Intermodal network set-up, operating models and deployment of assets.
• Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan of new / modified products until handover to operations.
• Project quality and cost management regarding to customers and partner (RU’s, terminals, operators and others).

The ideal person for this position will have the following skills, experience and education.

• Successfully completed studies in business administration with focus on logistics or comparable degree.
• 3 - 5 years of professional experience in project management in the logistics industry, experience in intermodal transport networks or rail transport desirable.
• Written and spoken German and English. Any further language skills would be an advantage.
• Proficient standard in MS Office IT skills.
• Proven experience in preparing and presenting Intermodal project plans and proposals for decision making.
• Reliability, proven professional competence, commitment, resilience & assertiveness.
• Good technical and business knowledge in logistics and transportation.
