Vianode is a new business entity in Elkem and we aim to become a leading solutions provider to the fast-growing battery industry. We are now seeking a Procurement Manager for Equipment to join this exciting entrepreneurial venture!

Our first full-scale industrial plant for production of anode graphite will be built at Herøya and start of production is planned in 2023. This material is a key component in lithium-ion battery cells.

The successful candidate must be able to build strong cross functional relations and together with our team and key suppliers you will ensure that targets for cost, quality, and deliveries are met.

You will be focused on good supplier relationships and total costs of ownership to achieve maximum advantage for Vianode and our customers.

You will be a member of our Supply Chain Organization supporting the development, implementation and management of strategies to provide Vianode with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality and delivery performance.

Areas of responsibility

• Lead RFI/ RFQ/ RFP and strategic sourcing process
• Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
• Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA’s, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements
• Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap
• Identify most efficient transportation solution in cooperation with the Logistics department
• Perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown form data
• Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics
• Work closely alongside manufacturing and process engineering to understand and support their requirements. Review Engineering costs with Engineering leads to ensure best-in-class cost is attained
• Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews
• Develop should-cost models for various materials, maintenance and spare parts

Requirements

• M.Sc. or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline, e.g. Mech or Electronics
• Strong business acumen and negotiation skills
• Technical knowledge of batteries, electrochemistry and battery materials is an advantage
• 5+ years of experience from supply chain solutions and procurement of manufacturing equipment, e.g. material handling, crushing & milling, high temp equipment, conveyors etc
• Ability to understand Engineering and Manufacturing direction and provide focused supply-chain solutions accordingly
• Desire to own your own role and actively contribute to the cross-functional team
• Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to details and deadlines
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Action-oriented and solution-driven and able to work in a fast pace environment
• Analytical skills to ensure both internal and external requests are fulfilled
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• High level of integrity
• Excellent communication skills
