Pricing & Market Analyst (m/f)

As part of the Trading & Origination Department, the Southern European Origination team manages a portfolio of short- and long-term third-party contracts in Spain, France and Italy, typically standardized route-to-market services for renewable energy, tailor-made Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), and long-term sales contracts to large end customers. The plan is to foster the leading position as PPA and route-to-market services provider and further grow the portfolio, potentially also expanding activities on a product and/or regional level. The team’s responsibilities include the origination, sales, structuring, pricing and portfolio management of all non-standard power contracts in the mentioned countries, with team members located in in Düsseldorf, Lyon, Paris, Milan and Madrid. 

Responsibilities:

  • Play a pivotal role in the scaling up of our portfolio of non-standard power contracts by delivering state-of-the-art pricing for short-term route-to-market products, primarily for renewable energy producers, but also other generation, consumption or flexibility sources, in France, Spain and Italy
  • Closely liaise with sales team on new deal origination, sales strategy, product development and market regulatory know-how
  • Closely liaise with internal short-term trading teams on optimal trading and value capture strategies in short-term electricity markets
  • Develop both quantitative and fundamental view forward looking views of costs and risks of balancing risks liaising closely with team members and analysis functions to share know-how and market views
  • Manage, monitor and assess third-party outsourcing agreement of balancing services for certain parts of the portfolio
  • Be expert on short-term markets (reserve markets, intraday, spot) in relevant markets, staying on top of latest regulatory developments and market trends.
  • Create dashboards, reports and visualization tools
  • Continuously improve and align best practise approaches with fellow pricing analysts in other markets
  • Regularly perform and present ad-hoc analysis for mandate owner and senior management
  • Deal with day-to-day administrative issues related to the portfolio
  • Liaise closely with risk department / middle office and back office on PnL and risk reporting

 Your profile:

  • University degree in engineering, natural sciences or business
  • Strong analytical skills and programming experience with Python is required
  • Commercial mind-set with good communicative skills
  • Team player with a proactive and independent working style
  • Experience with business intelligence platforms such as PowerBI is desired
  • Experience in project management would be beneficial
  • Fluent in English, the ability to also communicate in either French, Italian or Spanish would be an advantage
