Operations Readiness & Assurance Engineer

Job Summary:

DNO is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East region and the North Sea. Founded in 1971, DNO is Norway’s oldest oil company. With a leading position in terms of reserves and production in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, DNO produces around 110,000 barrels of oil per day from the flagship Tawke field.

Responsible for the development, approval, and delivery of the "Operations Readiness Plan" for the Tawke AGI Facilitates EPC project. The scope of this role includes interfacing with Technical, Operations, and Management (both within the Project and Operations) teams to develop, agree, and implement the necessary work to safely and effectively Start-up the project and transition it into operations with all the required support in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop key operational requirements for the Tawke AGI Facilities EPC project.
  • Develop and document a detailed schedule of work for Operational Readiness Activities, ensuring that all detailed schedules interfaces and tie back to the Project Baseline Schedule.
  • Develop interfaces with the other parts of the project to maintain a coherent and well-established Operational Readiness Schedule. Participate in schedule risk analysis.
  • Provide operations Readiness and Assurance requirement into the project and make all necessary preparations for the flawless start-up of the project.
  • Work closely with project and operations personnel to meet the OR&A milestones.
  • To ensure operations readiness and seamless transfer of the Projects to the Asset Team with continuous support to the various Project Teams and the Production Operation Readiness and Assurance Team.
  • Provide operations requirement into the project in accordance with the Company’s standards.
  • Detail the operations requirement into design P&IDs, HAZOP, HAZID, etc.
  • Participate in reviews of the plant design to ensure it provides an ergonomic, functional, and fit-for-purpose facility, and simple to operate.
  • Ensuring that Operations and Maintenance procedures are produced in accordance with the best practice in a timely manner.
  • Lead and deliver Operations Readiness efforts to ensure new plants and facilities can be brought on stream whilst meeting process safety standards, that staff attain required competencies, that operations and maintenance procedures are in place, that routine maintenance is setup and operations daily surveillance is set up.
  • Assist with the training and Competence development of workers to ensure that Kurdish personnel are trained and developed to meet existing and future work demands
  • Handover facilities to Field Managers following commissioning and ensure further development/project activities are integrated in an optimal manner minimising risk to HSE and loss of production.
  • Ensure key operations and maintenance staff attend design reviews and are made available during construction and pre-commissioning to support projects and attain required competencies. Act as senior mentor and coach to field managers.
  • Ensure key operations and maintenance staff lead live commissioning activities supported by project staff. 
  • Ensure early identification of staffing requirements and if necessary, lead recruitment efforts.
  • Be lead focal point within production for all plant changes and projects interface.
  • Ensure Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews and Statement of Fitness requirements are fully adhered to.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experienced Operations Professional.
  • Min 10 yrs. experience in Onshore Oil & Gas Facilities production, construction, maintenance, and commissioning with a good understanding of technical integrity management systems, project management systems, quality, and technical assurance systems, change management, waiver/query management.
  • Good inter-personal, communications, influencing and presentation skills are essential.
  • Team player, excellent inter-personal and leadership skills with good communications skills.
  • High awareness of safe working practices associated with design, construction, pre-commissioning, installation, hook-up, and commissioning of oil & gas facilities.
  • Rotational position based in Kurdistan; (29/27) rotation. Frequent travels to Erbil and Dubai offices.

The role reports to Operations Manager - Production / EPC and Planning Manager. The role will be based on site in Kurdistan and will be rotational type work schedule 29 days on / 27 days off. The contract duration will be unlimited.
