Mathematical Modelling Engineer

As our new Mathematical Modelling Engineer for Engine Room and Cargo Handling Simulators, you will play a vital role in our K-SIM AS development team. This team develops and delivers market-leading simulator solutions for mandatory STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) training and advanced integrated crew training, serving the maritime, naval, and offshore industries worldwide.
The development team is responsible for comprehensive product development and maintenance of the product line. Your primary tasks will include designing and implementing mathematical models based on product specifications. Additionally, you will maintain existing Kongsberg-developed software, ensuring it remains up-to-date and fully functional.
What you will be doing
- Development and maintenance of mathematical unit models
- Integration of mathematical unit models with control systems
- Making process systems by configuring mathematical unit models
- Development and maintenance of tools
- Contribute to the development of the next generation of mathematical unit models
- Ensure high quality of simulator software
We think you should have
Master of Science in cybernetics, process technology, mathematic modelling, marine technology or similar. Main disciplines: physics, mechanics, combustion engines, electronics/electromechanics, battery technology, thermodynamics.
You have
- Deep technical process understanding, being able to focus on most important parts and simplify the less relevant parts of the processes.
- Knowledge about state-of-the-art mathematical modelling
- Analytical and creative skills
- Programming experience
- Ability to handle heavy workload
