What you will be working on

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Machine Learning Engineer to join the Situational Awareness product group at Kongsberg Discovery in Trondheim. We are seeking a motivated, solution-oriented engineer who thrives on technical challenges and enjoys project-based work.
As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be a key member of an experienced product team, playing a crucial role in the continued development of our machine learning algorithms. Your responsibilities will include dataset curation, algorithm design, model training, deployment, and the effective utilization of neural network outputs.

To succeed in this position, we believe you need to take initiative, be cooperative, responsible, structured, and quality minded. The position requires some travel, e.g., to conferences, customer visits, and exhibitions. You might occasionally join our operators and customers in the field.

Qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize machine learning algorithms, with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Experience with PyTorch for building and training neural networks, with a understanding of its libraries and ecosystem.
• Proficiency in C++ for deploying machine learning models in production environments, with the ability to write efficient, high-performance code.
• Experience with Linux operating systems is beneficial, particularly in deploying machine learning models on Linux servers and developing in Linux-based environments.
• Experience from relevant industry is beneficial.
• Fluent in both spoken and written English. Fluency in spoken and written Norwegian is beneficial.
