Junior Solar Project Developer (Temporary – 1 year)

Statkraft recently announced its new corporate strategy, with the aim to strengthen its position as a leading renewable energy company. Statkraft is already the largest producer of renewable energy in Europe and is planning to develop an additional 4 GW onshore wind capacity and about 2 GW solar power within 2025 globally. The majority of the growth is planned in Europe (mainly Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands), and we are pursuing both organic growth as well as potential M&A opportunities to reach the target.

The business area European Wind and Solar (E) is responsible for development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. The business area is also responsible for the project execution of large projects in Statkraft, the group procurement function and development of new business opportunities.

Main purpose of this role is to support the development process for the solar PV projects with a specific focus on the initiatives located in south of Italy. The successful candidate will be supported and trained (where necessary) to a level where she/he will be able to manage the development process autonomously from initial contacts through to the planning consent spanning from land closing, securing grid capacity to the management and coordination of the grid connection and permitting processes.

 

We are looking for a future colleague who will:

 

• Support the development process for secured projects and new project opportunities from land closing and contract management to Commencement of Construction, eventually with internal/external support;
• Monitor and report on the development of the Statkraft solar projects portfolio coming from M&A, co-developments or own development until reaching RtB status;

• Support the progress on the projects by coordinating different work-streams with other internal departments (e.g. Commercial, Engineering, Legal, Procurement, etc.), managing internal database, budgets, and cash-flows and keep the internal/external processes up-to-date (conducting reviews on weekly basis);
• Effectively and professionally maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including development partners, public entities (state, regional and local), legal & technical advisors and land-owners;
• Support the team on Due Diligence activities, when required, related to the acquisitions of new projects or to the greenfield origination of new sites;
• Provide, research and further develop an in-depth knowledge of local market legislation, regulations, support schemes etc.

 

 We are looking for a person who has preferably:

 

• Basic understanding of ‘greenfield’ development process for solar PV projects in Italy (including site control, environmental constraints, securing interconnection, permitting process, etc.);
• Determination to learn and understand the electricity market in Italy, including but not limited to interaction with grid operators (TERNA and e-distribuzione), knowledge of the Italian regulation and development roadmaps;
• Basic knowledge of solar technology and costs.
• Good coordination and reporting capabilities, both with internal and external stakeholders delivering efficiently and on time;
• Ability to work in an international corporate environment with very good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written);
• Preferable 1-2 years of experience in project development activities (graduates will be also considered);
• Will to travel to meet colleagues, people, and third parties;

• Will to promote Compliance Policies according to the Statkraft Way;

• Good level of English;
