Junior Project Manager in Strategy & Consulting

Join our Strategy & Consulting team in a student position as Junior Project Manager starting as soon as possible

Do you want to become a Junior Project Manager in our in-house Strategy & Consulting team? Apply before 28th of May 2023!

We are currently looking for a student to join our Strategy & Consulting team from summer 2023 in a part-time position of 15-20 hour per week on average. If you want to work with a variety of high-priority, strategic projects across DFDS while also studying, this is a position for you!

Your role:

The Strategy & Consulting team (S&C) in DFDS supports our business areas with consultancy services on various and very diverse strategic projects throughout the company.

As a Junior Project Manager, you will work alongside experienced colleagues on consulting projects across DFDS and take ownership of central elements of the projects. The projects span across operations, commercial, organizational, strategy and M&A – both within ferry, logistics and on group level. This allows you to gain experience with different parts of the business.

As a team member, we have a high focus on your development of a broad consulting “toolbox” and learning different parts of the business. You should expect development within problem solving, project management, data analysis, solution implementation and stakeholder management – and operational understanding

What we expect:

You are ambitious, caring, sociable and highly capable of taking responsibility. You are ideally about to start your first semester of your Master’s in business, economics, technical degree or similar. You strive to enhance and excel your skills within project management, problem solving and driving analyses and feel comfortable presenting and owning content. English is a prerequisite. Furthermore, you have a strong personal drive, good sense of teamwork and general curiosity.

Our team:

We are a team of ex-management consultants and passionate colleagues. Your future colleagues have backgrounds from top tier management consulting firms and bring experience from a multitude of industries and practices along with an emphasis on professional development. Moreover, we take pride in a good atmosphere and off-site social events.

The work:

We support Executive Management with some of the most exciting projects across DFDS. Our work is characterized by:

  • Strategically critical: We run the projects with the highest strategic importance and material impact, directly with top management
  • On the same team: Our approach is rooted in consulting practices, but we see things through, and are part of the same business as our “clients”, emphasizing real-life solutions
  • Steppingstone: The high top management sponsorship and team’s foothold in DFDS has enabled us to transition a high number of team members into exciting jobs in DFDS afterwards

Example projects:

  • Development of Group Strategy for all of DFDS
  • Strategic climate action plan to reduce DFDS’s environmental footprint
  • Commercial due diligence and integration of recent acquisition of HSF Logistics Group and McBurney Logistics (among other acquisition targets)
  • Greenfield establishment of two new routes from France to Ireland and the UK

Practicalities:

When: Our new Junior Project Manager is expected to start as of September 2023. Application deadline is on 28th of May, and we expect you to start around summer 2023.

What: You will be based in DFDS’ headquarter in Copenhagen and can expect a working week of 15-20 hours on average with flexibility around your schedule and exams. Travel to operational sites may be relevant depending on the project you are staffed on.

Why: You will be immersed in our team from day one and gain hands-on experience with real life problem solving and project management in a world leading ferry and logistics provider. You will be part of a tailored development programme providing ongoing feedback from an assigned mentor and leadership to enhance your learning, with good future career opportunities.

Sounds interesting? Apply today!

If you find the job interesting and you fulfill the expectations, please submit your resume, grade transcripts and motivational letter before 28th of May 2023. We will evaluate applications on an ongoing basis. All applications will be treated confidentially. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews in June.

Please contact Nina Roepstorff at niroe@dfds.com for questions about the position.
