International Trainee Programme: Finance and Business Performance

Are you looking to start your career as a trainee in a company where you’ll be surrounded by and learn from smart people who truly care about their work positively impacting the green energy transition? 

Statkraft’s International Trainee Programme is a great introduction into working life. You will spend 16 months learning and developing yourself alongside other graduates, and kick start your career in renewables. The programme consists of three job rotations across the company, of which at least one will be abroad. As a trainee, you will participate in various professional development courses and gatherings to acquire new skills and share experiences. You will also become a part of our brand-new CEO-led Future Board – an advisory board made up of trainees and young professionals at Statkraft who will advise and challenge our CEO on key issues and topics. For the first time ever, young professionals get a seat at the table, and will help shape our future here at Statkraft. 

We have three trainee positions available across this area. Please specify on your application if you have a preference for a particular focus area. 

Trainee in Financial Analysis, International Power. 
Location: Oslo 

International Power is responsible for all Statkraft’s power-generating activities outside western Europe, and covers hydropower, wind and solar power. As a Financial Analyst in International Power, you will: 

  • Develop and deliver financial analysis based on valuation models and other financial information   

  • Develop and deliver input to support discussions and decisions related to long term profitability 

  • Collaborate across our geographies to build tools that can help us automate manual processes in our business.  

  • Fluency in Spanish would be an asset in this role. 

Trainee in Financial AnalysisCFO area. 
Location: Oslo  

Our Finance function is at the core of our business, helping to inform the major decisions that impact our projects and activities, and funding the world’s transition to a greener energy future. Our Finance employees are highly valued business partners with strategic and operational focus and are the catalyst for driving our business transformation. 

As a trainee within Financial Analysis in the Business Analysis department, you will: 

  • Provide financial modelling at a group level by using financial projection and analysis of financial results and capacity 

  • Participate in analysis of value creation, financial- and operational performance to support decision making, strategy assessments and communication to asset owners  

  • Be an active member of a highly competent and passionate team who support the whole entire Statkraft organisation 

  • Collaborate with Corporate Strategy department as well as other finance teams across all four Business Areas 

Trainee in Business Performance, Production. 
Location: Oslo. 

In Business Performance, our responsibility is about challenging and driving performance within operations and maintenance for hydro, wind and solar assets. You will contribute to the business area’s value creation through ensuring good business targets, and supporting managers in understanding cost, margins, and how to reach desired goals. We work in close collaboration with the technical staff and the operating units.  

As a trainee in the Business Performance you will: 

  • Analyse and improve processes in order to drive a holistic and strategic performance management process 

  • Perform Planning, target setting and follow up the performance of operations and maintenance (O&M) and reinvestments of our power production plants 

  • Support managers understand their performance and its contribution to the bottom line  

  • Build tools that can support processes in our business and thereby improving quality and availability of analyses 


About 
You:
 

We are looking for trainees within knowledge of financial analysis and business performance combined with the essential skills to future-proof our business and renewable energy solutions. This includes: 

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Industrial Economics, Business or similar 

  • Interest in the renewable energy industry 

  • Strong analytical capacity and ability to draw and communicate implications of analysis 

  • Utilize new technology/digital tools as way of working  

  • Understanding of financial modelling and relevant tools 

  • Understanding of economic and financial drivers 

  • High working tempo and ability to manage/prioritise deadlines 

  • Fluency in English is required, but for some roles additional languages might be an advantage. 

Experiences in these areas are also useful in your role: 

  • Understanding of valuation modelling/principle 

  • Some knowledge of relevant tools such as XL, SAP Analytics Cloud, or Power BI
