Right now, DFDS is restructuring their Data Centre department and needs a person that can take the lead on our Hyper-V and VMware server estate, along with overall responsibility for the systems and processes managed by our Platform team. 

This job is for the person who is skilled in VMware and Hyper-V systems and is ready to take their career a step further, as a technical lead on multiple technologies in our Platform team. About the role

You will be our lead SME on all our Hypervisor-based environments, specifically VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V. You will have colleagues in Copenhagen and Istanbul assisting you with operational work. Furthermore, we are looking for someone who can act as a technical lead for our Platform team in Data Centres. This role is to drive and coordinate the team's priorities and be the link between the team (currently 4-5 colleagues) and your manager. The person we are looking for should have a broad technical skillset, whilst also find the act of guiding other SMEs to be interesting and fulfilling. 

You will also do:

• Day to day maintenance of DFDS’ VMware and Hyper-V environments in multiple locations 
• Provide 2^nd- and 3^rd-line support of VMware, Hyper-V, and related Wintel issues 
• Technical ownership and continuous improvement of our hypervisor deployments 
• Coordinating the Platform team’s priorities and tasks 

About you

We imagine that you have several years of practical experience with infrastructure in a medium to large enterprise and demonstrated proficiency deploying and maintaining VMware and Hyper-V core technologies. Furthermore, this position requires continuous awareness of emerging technologies in relation to cloud services and alternative virtualization technologies, as DFDS are moving with the trends in technology towards a hybrid and multi-cloud setup. 

The ideal person for this position will have the following qualifications:   

• Solid experience as a System Administrator or Engineer, with a focus on VMware and Hyper-V 
• Solid experience with Microsoft Windows servers 
• Good experience with physical server hardware handling and management 
• Good experience with scripting and automation in PowerShell 
• Good all-round Wintel knowledge, including backup services 
• Knowledge about infrastructure architecture and storage technologies is preferable 
• Experience with standardized processes based on ITIL best practice 

 As a person:

• You can bridge the gap between people and systems with good communication and interpersonal skills 
• You are adaptable to change  
• You are analytic and structured, and good at identifying root causes 
• You are a team player and can guide your team members 
• You are good in oral and written English
