Head of Sustainable Finance & Debt Advisory at Handelsbanken Debt Capital Markets

We are looking for an inspiring and thoughtful leader to expand our sustainable finance and debt advisory offering. If you are passionate about sustainability and finance, this position offers an opportunity to lead change and develop financial services to create lasting benefits for clients and society at large. The position is based in Stockholm.

About us
Debt Capital Markets (DCM) is an integral part of Handelsbanken’s investment bank. The department comprises 45 experts providing specialised financing solutions, primarily to corporate and real estate customers. Our product offering ranges from bilateral and syndicated loans to arrangement of corporate bonds and commercial paper programs. Our geographical scope includes Handelsbanken’s six home markets, namely Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Great Britain and the Netherlands. Our capabilities in sustainable finance, debt structuring and other advisory services are crucial in providing complete and tailored financing solutions to customers in these markets.

Vision
Sustainability is a vital part of Handelsbanken’s business model. As a bank, we believe that our greatest opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable society is through the products, services and advice we provide to customers. DCM is an established sustainable finance advisor to companies and institutions since many years and has lead the work on many recognised green financing frameworks in the Nordic region. As Handelsbanken is now expanding its ever growing commitment to sustainable development, we are looking to integrate sustainability into our ordinary advisory services and further intensify our development of green loans and sustainability linked loans in the years ahead.

Responsibilities
In this position, you will have a key role in DCM’s management team. You will lead the expansion of our offering in sustainable finance and debt advisory, and have an opportunity to shape the strategy for making environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria an integrated part of our ordinary finance offering and customer engagement. You will manage a team of eight highly motivated and experienced colleagues with backgrounds ranging from green bonds and loans to debt structuring and acquisition finance. The team is considerably self-activating and holds significant expertise in both sustainable finance and debt advisory. As you will be directly involved in advising and negotiating financing solutions with customers, you will also work closely together with colleagues in DCM’s origination teams and the bank’s branch offices.

Requirements
We are looking for an inclusive leader and a confident decision-maker with significant experience of developing talents and motivation among staff. You have held senior roles in the financial sector and have extensive experience within sustainable finance and/or sustainability development. You are business oriented and passionate about advising customers regarding their ESG challenges and financing requirements. Previous experience from debt-related advisory is a merit, but not a requirement. You have a strong sense of integrity and enjoy working in a collaborative environment. You have a university degree and a genuine interest in finance as well as greening of the financial sector. Your verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English are unencumbered.

Our inspired staff share our vision and objectives. We provide a great place to work, where each person has the opportunity and voice to drive change. We endorse a healthy, respectful and productive working environment that promotes work-life balance.
