Head of IT Section – Energy Management Optimization (m/f/d)

Statkraft IT is the Statkraft Group’s IT service provider and Digitalization Centre of Expertise, delivering a full set of services from business development, change management, projects, application development to operational services.

What we do:

The Market Operations and Software development department (MIM) is responsible for all IT deliveries to the global business area Market Operations (M), a department utilizing advanced IT to support business functions within e.g. trading, energy management, market analysis, risk and back office functions, as well as Statkraft-wide responsibility for software development. In addition to internal software development, MIM also manages most 3rd party systems utilized by Market operations, and currently consists of employees across Oslo, Düsseldorf, London, New Delhi and Trondheim.

We are entering an exciting transformation journey and with this we introduce a new sub-unit: Energy Management optimization.

Your role:

The Head of Energy Management optimization will lead a section accountable for IT’s deliveries towards a key department in M, Energy Management, which provides Energy management for Statkraft and 3rd party assets in Europe, as well as a complex range of weather and market analysis services. The Energy Management department utilizes a huge variety of IT solutions including e.g. 24/7 market planning and follow-up, algorithmic trading and high performance computing analysis models. The section will initially consist of four employees across Oslo and Düsseldorf.

As the IT department’s overall responsible towards this area, you will together with your team ensure that the business departments are met with professionalism, strategic focus, structure and proactiveness. As part of this you need to understand their core business and processes, as well the range of IT deliveries from throughout the IT organization.

The position can be in Oslo or Düsseldorf and will report to the VP Market Operations and Software development.

Key aspects of your role will be:

  • Accountable for the IT department’s deliveries to the Energy Management area
  • Lead a team of Business IT developers and Product managers
  • Build strong relationships and structured interaction with the business area
  • Ensure business needs are addressed in a structured and professional manner end-to-end within the IT organization
  • Deliver product management of selected IT deliveries from your team
  • Challenge and support business to better utilize IT
  • Understand important market trends and create awareness of new opportunities with technology
  • Support the business in developing roadmaps
  • Member of the MIM management team, and an active contributor to ensuring that the totality of the deliveries of MIM are successful
  • Budget responsibility for IT’s deliveries to Energy Management

 Some travelling is expected, in particular to the employee locations in Oslo and Düsseldorf.

 Your profile:

  • Master/university degree in science, engineering, business or economy
  • Strong process driver with mindset to plan and structure work to ensure high quality solutions  
  • Seniority to represent MI’s interests towards business and business interests within MI. Ability to manage a complex and demanding set of stakeholders with diverse requirements
  • Strong relationship and communication capabilities and talent for creating trust, customer oriented  
  • Ability to handle many different tasks with different complexity and involved parties 
  • Interest in keeping up to date with the development in market and technological trends
  • Broad competence within IT, in particular around custom software development and agile ways of working
  • Leadership experience is beneficial
  • Self-driven, comfortable with high work pressure and a positive team player
  • International experience and intercultural skills are beneficial, with ability to cooperate well with others and facilitate cooperation across countries and organizational units
  • Fluent in English both oral and in writing, other languages are an advantage
