The Role
A vacancy has arisen for a Gatehouse Operative for DFDS based in Immingham. To ensure that all cargo and vehicles are booked in & out of the Terminal/Warehouse areas using the Terminal /warehouse management systems safely and efficiently.

 

 PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out gate controls as required.
• Process cargo movement inwards and outwards in the Terminal/Warehouse systems.
• Package & unpackage cargo to and from terminal equipment. 
• Process delivery instructions from the Business Delivery department.
• Liaise with the Customer Services Department and external agencies as required.
• Ensure that visitors to site are briefed in the safety requirements of the site.
• Report any damage to cargo as soon as it becomes apparent.
• Inform the Warehouse Shift Managers of any problems as they arise.
• Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
• Use of the Warehouse and Terminal computer systems. =
• Update /input warehouse stock levels as required.  

 

 GENERAL RESPONSBILITIES:

• Adhere to all relevant policies, operating procedures, and standards always.
• Ensure a high level of customer care & professionalism is always maintained whilst representing DFDS.
• Always work with due care and attention to ensure the personal safety of yourself and others.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Carry out any other role or task that is commensurate with the spirit and purpose of this job description.
• Actively be involved with all aspects of Safety Management System, which includes working within the parameters of the Safety Advancement Scheme “Safety First”.
• Ensure the correct PPE is worn as required.
• Ensure that all Safe Systems of Work are followed and that you have read, understood, and signed all relevant procedures.
• Always work with due care and attention to ensure the personal safety of yourself and others.
• Ensure all associated Incident, Accident, Near Miss, Environmental and Witness forms are completed before the end of the shift and information is passed to Operational Management.
• Comply with all aspects of ISPS security controls according to Department for Transport legislation.
