Freight Sales Manager

We are looking for an Ireland based Sales Manager to join our Freight Sales team in Business Unit Channel. You will be joining Europe’s leading ferry operator, where you will be at the heart of delivering commercial success for the business unit. Your main focus will be on driving new sales on our Rosslare-Dunkerque route, but you will also be selling other DFDS routes. Reporting directly to our Freight Sales Director, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Route Director for Rosslare-Dunkerque as well as other Sales Managers in Ireland.

 

As a Sales Manager you have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility for developing your own business. It is a job that requires high drive, a curious mindset and strong interpersonal skills. You like to chase opportunities but also have the ability to see things through.

 

The Freight Sales Manager will divide their time as followed:

  • Winning new trailer volumes for the route (accompanied traffic)
  • Developing and growing volumes in new segments, for example (but not limited to):
    • Trade cars, trucks and busses (finished vehicles or chassis)
    • Out of gauge and special cargo
    • Agricultural vehicles
    • Vans, caravans and motorhomes
    • Military vehicles
    • Support B2B development of the passenger business

 

The successful candidate must be located Ireland and expected to be on the road most of the week visiting customers as well as coordinating with colleagues in Rosslare. Some travel to UK and continent to be expected as a portion of your customers will be based there.

 

As you will be doing both sales and business development, we imagine that you either come from a sales background or alternatively with project management skills combined with a commercial mindset. In either case you possess:

  • A strong commercial drive
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Project management skills and diligence
  • Opportunistic mindset and great problem solving skills
