Are you ready to be at the forefront of representing Kongsberg to our global clientele? We're expanding our team and seeking a skilled DP Service Engineer to join our Global Customer Support (GCS) department based in Doha, Qatar


As a Field Service Engineer specializing in Systems, your primary responsibilities will include the installation and commissioning of Kongsberg’s Dynamic Positioning and Joystick Control Systems, encompassing both software and hardware components. This entails tasks such as vessel modeling, thruster tuning, interfacing, and in-house engineering. Additionally, you will handle Acoustic Positioning Systems (HiPAP), various reference systems, and sensors from Kongsberg Seatex, along with Bandak Tautwire systems, both on vessels and in shipyards globally.

Your role will extend to performing on-call and planned services, as well as maintenance duties on sailing ships. Moreover, you will provide in-house technical support to our clientele. Key accountabilities

  •  Install and commission Dynamic Positioning and Joystick Control Systems, Acoustic Positioning Systems (HiPAP), various reference systems & sensors from Kongsberg Discovery, and Bandak Tautwire systems.
  • Conduct in-house engineering and onboard commissioning of DP Software, including tuning vessel models, software upgrades, and interface modifications.
  • Perform system maintenance tasks and conduct performance assessments.
  • Offer technical support to both internal and external customers.
  • Support troubleshooting, configuration, and repair of products and related units.
  • Conduct on-call services, system acceptance tests, installations, upgrades, onboard training, fault analysis, and rectification work at customer sites and installations.
  • Be available for emergency call-out services, including non-office hours, to provide fast and efficient assistance within Qatar, Middle East and Worldwide.
  • Execute assigned tasks to meet customer deadlines and expectations effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Center for timely updates and continuous knowledge enhancement.
  • Play a role in shaping the future strategies of the marine industry, focusing on digitalization and decarbonization efforts.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electronics, instrumentation, or related fields. Alternatively, substantial relevant work experience can offset the absence of formal education.
  • Additional training and certifications in the Offshore / Oil & gas industry, such as BOSIET and H2S, are advantageous.
  • Meet health requirements that apply for offshore work.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Dynamic Positioning system field services.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, enabling effective communication.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for global travel and engagement in support activities, showcasing a high level of motivation and adaptability.
