Engineering Manager for Offshore Development

The business area European Wind and Solar (E) is responsible for development and ownership of wind and solar assets in Europe. The business area is also responsible for the project execution of large projects in Statkraft, the group procurement function and development of new business opportunities.

 

We are seeking a talented and motivated Engineering Manager professional to join our offshore team.  This is an exciting time to join a fast pace and growing team where you will have the opportunity to develop your Engineering experience on our NISA Offshore Wind farm project.  The pace will be challenging but it will be rewarding and there are significant opportunities for career development.

 

Your role:

The main responsibilities are to:

  • Support project team to deliver engineering advice for the planning environmental phase of the NISA offshore project;
  • Manage the inputs from technical design team to finalize the design of the project;
  • Overall responsible for energy yield including availability;
  • Overall responsible for demonstrating the required technical maturity at decision gates
  • Ensure efficient and regular project meetings and recording of minutes and agreed actions. This includes (but is not limited to) general internal project reporting, tracking of project spend & progress, tracking of project payments & variations and various project management documentation compilation and maintenance;
  • Responsibility for Employer’s Requirements for EPC and Consultant contracts and manage the engineering and design related to the infrastructure of the project;
  • Translating engineering issues in CAPEX and OPEX assumptions;
  • Work with the offshore team to feed into upcoming offshore auction preparation and strategy;
  • Management of onshore and offshore specialist consultants and advisors including determination of scopes of work, contractor appointment and interpretation of advice received;
  • Understand, promote and adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and policies in undertaking all activities;
  • Ensure that the engineering work in the project is carried out in accordance with Statkraft’s internal requirements and good industry practice;
  • Manage the engagement with project certifier and marine warranty surveyor in line with the project strategy and insurance policy
  • Assist in other day-to-day Irish Offshore tasks as required;
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, for front-end civil engineering (e.g. geotechnical investigations, metocean studies, foundation designs, cable routing) and ensure that they are prepared on time;
  • Producing technical reports for senior management.
Your profile:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Offshore windfarm development and construction experience;
  • Knowledge and understanding of wind turbine technology, grid connections, site selection, offshore wind foundation types, ground conditions interpretation and foundation, array cable and turbine installation procedure;
  • Professional and personal development in a company experiencing strong growth
  • Experience in coordinating specialist technical input to deliver carefully considered engineering advice
  • A knowledge of the Irish Energy Sector and Irish Offshore Industry
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • An established network in the offshore industry would be beneficial
  • Experience of coordinating multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Be a genuine team player, with a positive outlook, be determined and flexible with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Be flexible in terms of working arrangements, international travel may be required as part of the job.
  • An organised approach to working, task prioritisation and time management.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills and strong report writing skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Driver's licence essential
Qualifications:
  • A third-level qualification in engineering, or related fields that give the candidate the necessary skills to complete role with at least 10 years post graduate experience.
  • Membership of Engineers Ireland (EI) or other professional accreditation/ registration with a recognised body.(Desirable)
