We are looking for a new leader for our corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) function in Elkem, as our current leader is nearing retirement age. Corporate EHS is a global support function responsible for setting standards, conducting audits, and providing coaching and training throughout the organization.

The EHS work involved in all of Elkem's activities is an integrated part of the value creation chain. As EHS Director, you will work strategically with the corporate EHS team and corporate, divisional and plant management teams. You will also work closely with our production sites across the world in their efforts to improve their EHS work, define improvement areas and implement corrective actions.

 

Most important areas of responsibility:

• Establish and develop high quality corporate EHS standards, programs, procedures, and tools
• Train, coach and develop EHS managers at plant and division level
• Perform EHS audits / reviews and contributing to necessary improvements
• Define, analyze and communicate global EHS metrics and KPIs
• Promote a safety culture with learning and sharing of best practice across the organization

 

Qualifications required for the position:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Occupational EHS or other relevant technical fields
• Experience with developing and implementing EHS strategies in large, international organizations
• Extensive experience with practical improvement work in industrial environments
• Preferably, hands on experience from occupational health and safety, environmental management, product safety, technical safety and energy management.
• Fluency in English and preferably also other languages

You have a coaching approach to leadership and strong interpersonal skills within a multicultural environment. You have solid analytical and problem-solving skills, and prefer to work in a structured and well organized manner.

The position reports to SVP Technology with direct access to Elkem's corporate management team. Office location could be at any Elkem site globally. Extensive travelling is required.
