Education Officer - Beirut (Lebanese National)

The position is open on a rolling basis and applications will be reviewed as first come first serve, and interviews will be assigned instantly until a suitable candidate is selected. 

Duties and responsibilities
The Education Officer is responsible for oversight of implemention of PSS and education activities in learning cetnres in the emergency response. He/she will also act as Education Referral Focal Point within the response. He / she will supervise the Education Assistants, ensure their capacity building and transfer of key skills, support outreach activities; conduct assessments in areas of interest; manage Education database and reporting. The main responsibilities include:
1. Oversee the Education Assistants
2. Plan and supervise the implementation of education activities in the learning centres
3. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about education activities
4. Work closely with the education and child protection sectors partners and stakeholders in UN agencies, and international and national NGOs
5. Attend and contribute to coordination mechanisms and fora as requested
6. Collaborate in the preparation of reports as required internally by NRC (monthly, quarterly and yearly) and by all relevant donors
7. Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the project and materials based on observations and discussions with the beneficiaries and education team
8. Follow NRC referral system and refer identified cases to the designated focal points
9 Supervise data entry and ensure data cleaning in Education database
10. Report on a regular basis on activities and results to the relevant NRC staff,
11. Ensure coordination at internal  level
12. Conduct administrative tasks (eg. volunteers and educators payments and other tasks, when required).
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
  • University degree in Education or related field.
  • Experience from working with education projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Qualified and experienced teacher/ master trainer.
  • Experience in psychosocial support for children’s social and emotional needs.
