An exciting opportunity has arisen as Development Engineer for AZ-PM and TT-PM in Kongsberg Maritime. You will be a central resource providing and verifying the technical solutions. As a Development Engineer you will also be part of the team ensuring that the product meets the classification and legislate requirements. You will help resolve and specify customer specific solutions to meet the market requirement in addition to promote our products in customer meetings.

AZ-PM is a high-end azimuthing thruster with the motor fitted in the nozzle driving the propeller via a ring around the propeller, eliminating the need for gears in the driveline, providing a compact direct drive permanent magnet motor main propulsion. TT-PM is the equivalent solution for Tunnel thrusters with a compact unit including the motor fitted as a complete unit inside the tunnel, eliminating the need for gears and inboard space consuming motors while reducing the noise produce by the thrusters transmitted to the hull. 

Key accountabilities

• Development and verification of technical solutions and requirements for AZ-PM and TT-PM products
• Evaluation and verification of technical solutions and suppliers’ solutions versus requirements
• Production and verification of product and technical documentation, e.g.,
• Technical specifications and product safety documentation
• Installation, service and user manual
• Technical sales documentation
  • Strength analysis
  • Product classification
  • Resolve customer technical issues

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelors’ or masters’ degree within engineering or work experience in mechanical detail design and engineering
• Preferably experience or good understanding within marine propulsion, preferably azimuthing propulsion, power electric competence and FEM analysis
• Oral and written communication skills in English. Communication skills in other languages are considered an advantage.
