About the role:

In this position, you will be working on building industry-defining optimization tools and helping DFDS stay at the forefront of the industry. You will have a prominent level of influence on the data architecture and the way the team designs both processes and solutions.
Our Data Engineering team is very diverse and consists of 14 experienced colleagues from different backgrounds and nationalities distributed across 3 different locations. We work in different functional teams aimed at developing data foundations for various domains, but we have a common craftsmanship, and we are committed to knowledge sharing and defining best practices.
When you join our team, you will help us develop scalable data pipelines (batch and streaming) and API integrations based on on-prem (MSSQL) and cloud (AWS) infrastructure.
Furthermore, your responsibilities will also include:
• Modeling data and setting up underlying infrastructure to solve specific business problems and provide insights for decision-making.
• Being a contributing data engineer within your own agile team.
• Work and collaborate with other data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to develop data products that support the specific needs of many business domains.
About you:
As our new Data Engineer, you will be in constant collaboration with different stakeholders (technical/non-technical). Therefore, it is important that you are a strong-willed person who wants to learn from business, understand the bigger picture, and figure out details.
You should have a few years of experience in a similar role. Furthermore, we expect that:
• You have a background in a data-related field or in a software engineering role with an emphasis on data movement.
• You can perform complex operations and process large datasets in SQL/T-SQL.
• Experience with relational databases (MSSQL) and/or Cloud DWHs (Redshift/Snowflake)
• Experience with data modeling concepts and ETL processes
• You can work on multiple tasks both independently and as part of a team.
• You take pride in communicating with internal stakeholders at all levels.
Besides this it is nice to have (but not a must):
• You can write clean and readable Python code, following best practices and coding conventions.
• Experience with development in cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
• Modern related technologies: Airflow, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes
• CI/CD automation in Azure Pipelines or similar
• Data Visualization (Tableau, PowerBI)
• Practical experience with technical leadership or informal leadership
