Business Support Manager

DFDS operates 3 shortsea routes and 30 weekly intermodal connections (rail, barge) out of Belgium.
Ghent, where DFDS Belgium also operates a multimodal terminal, has 6 sailings per week to/from Gothenburg. Once per week Brevik in Norway is also called.
In Zeebrugge DFDS operates 4 sailings per week to/from Gothenburg and 1 sailing per week to/from UK & Norway. The Customer Service & Operational Management for these activities are located in Ghent and we are now looking for a new Senior Business Support Manager to strengthen our Ferry organization in Belgium.


We are seeking a high performing, driven individual to join our team in Belgium. You will be responsible for standardization, continuous improvement, sustainability and business implementation. This by leading varied optimization projects in the field op terminal services, multimodal solutions, sustainability, electrification of terminal equipment, IT processes, forecasting, KPI dashboarding, etc…

On a day to day basis you will be working closely with our customers, terminal operations, customer service, IT, technical department, procurement, management and project coordinators. You will have access to our international colleagues throughout the DFDS network at HQ in Copenhagen, in Europe and Turkey. Colleagues who can support you with knowledge and best practice sharing from other locations.



Above all, we are looking for people who will make DFDS better. If you are experienced in applying Lean Six Sigma and lean methodologies in a shipping & logistics environment, you are the right candidate to join our team.

Main responsibilities

 

The Senior Business Support Manager main responsibility is to improve existing business processes and implement new business processes from concept to implementation. This could be in the field of sustainability, operations, commercial and digital.

 

End to end ownership of assigned business lines and continuous improvement is required. Both from a yield perspective as well as from a quality and sustainability perspective.

 

Networking internally and externally are key to grow business process knowledge and actively manage your customers and stakeholders.

 

Travelling and meeting customers/stakeholders in Continental Europe and Scandinavia is required

 

You will be a part of the Ghent Management team and report to the Managing Director. You will also have the support of 2 project coordinators.

 

Customer Focus

-        Ensure internal and external customer requests are handled in a timely and professional manner creating and sustaining customer satisfaction and loyalty

-        Respond promptly to queries and follow up on all complaints and problems as a representative and ambassador of the company

-        Drive overall focus on client needs; coordinate improvement across operational planning and execution

-        Drive development and improvement of developed activities on scope, yield, sustainability and quality

Communication

-        Communicate in a structured and diplomatic way with Customers, Terminal Operations, Gate, Customer Service and Sales Department

-        Support DFDS’ open feedback culture

-        Drive fact-based decision making

 

Standardization

-        Develop and implement technical standards based on the consensus of different parties

 

General

-        Propose/suggest/implement structural improvements and savings in all matters to ensure the department’s efficiency & cost effectiveness. This by securing a strong cooperation with the customer service and operations.

-        Take initiative, and drive change where required. End to end project management supporting the improvement of existing business & services

-        Understanding the operational & commercial setup

-        Drive digital initiatives to improve the customer service processes

-        Willingness to travel

Professional qualifications

 

-        Bachelor/Master degree or equivalent in a related discipline

-        Good knowledge of Dutch, English. Additional languages are a plus

-        Proven experience within a transport/logistics environment – strong operational background required

-        Affinity with IT

-        Highly skilled use of Office software packages

-        Excellent social skills. Our internal stakeholders are skilled & knowledgeable, so it is important that you have the right interpersonal skills

-        Ability to work independently and result-oriented

-        High energy, drive and motivation to support the companies growth and development

-        Sefl- Starter, ability to work independently and take ownership
