Kongsberg Maritime is expanding their activity within underwater acoustics and strengthening their applications support. The application engineer will support our customers with technical advice, planning and operation of our equipment for the best possible quality and efficiency. Contribution in the sales process, delivery, and engineering is also an important part of this role.

Our world class products are used in a wide range of subsea applications such as Ocean research, subsea installation, AUV, USV and mapping surveys including products such as EM, M3, Seapath, MRU and other complementary sensors.

The Application Engineer role is a great opportunity for an Offshore Surveyor that wants to make the transition to working primarily onshore whilst keeping their practical skills up to date with some occasional field work. Travel to all countries in the Americas will be required with occasional travel world-wide.

Key accountabilities

  • Keep up to date with the latest relevant technologies and methods within our domain
  • Assist customers in their operation offshore, from the office and onboard vessels
  • Integration of products finding solutions to meet customers’ needs
  • Develop customer procedures for bespoke operations and applications
  • Demonstrations toward customers in the Americas and world-wide
  • Produce application notes and articles
  • Assist Product Managers with application knowledge
  • Assist the sales team on technical bids

Qualifications and experience

  • Several years of work experience from offshore survey and operations
  • Experienced in the operation of multibeam echosounder systems and data processing, INS, GNSS sensors etc.
  • Experience and understanding of multibeam calibrations, error budgets and geodesy.
  • Pragmatic, self-driven and solution-oriented
  • Co-operate well with management team, share knowledge and support others in the pursuit of team goals
  • BSc or MSc Degree in Survey, Oceanography, Cybernetics, Electronics or similar
  • Excellent English communication skills both oral and written
  • Additional Spanish and Portuguese language skills would be preferred
  • Good presentation skills
