Application engineer in automation

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Application engineer in automation at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn. We are looking for two engineers who are interested in a technical challenge and have backgrounds within electronics/automation. You should have the right mindset to work goal-focused and with commitment take responsibility for design and lead the technical parts of our control systems projects to propel large vessels.

As Application Engineer you are the technical lead from signed contract to installation and start-up of our control systems. You have the responsibility to design and adapt the control system according to our customers specific needs where almost every project is unique. The work will include hardware design in CAD, but also greater system integrations and specifying software functions. In this position you will work in close collaboration with our customers as well as internal functions, such as the main project manager, software developers and service engineers.

Qualifications and experience

To succeed in this position, you should have a university education in electronics/automation or equivalent work experience. Experience of electrical construction in CAD tools is meritorious. Due to the nature of an international customer and supplier base, high level of English, both written and oral, is important. Communication skills in other languages is considered an advantage.

In the work with lead and adaption of our control systems you should use a systematic approach to plan your work ahead and define clear priorities. Teamwork is key to succeed in this position, we therefore highly apricate your ability to build a useful network of contacts and relationships, co-operate well with others, share knowledge, experience, information and support others in the pursuit of team goals.
