Two 15-months researcher positions in immunology, SARS-CoV-2 immunisation program

Forskning og utvikling

We have two temporary researcher positions available at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health, Division of Infection Control, Department of Method Development and Analysis. The positions may be subject to extension.

The Ministry of Health and Care Services commissioned the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) to develop a national immunisation programme, including preparing, implementing and the monitoring of vaccination against COVID-19. We have two temporary researcher positions available, linked to the follow-up of the nati
 onal SARS-CoV-2 immunisation program.

This project studies the effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination in the general population using large population-based cohorts and national health registries, focusing on risk groups, effect, immune responses, effect on virus population, immediate and long term adverse events, and vaccine failure. Biological material has been sampled from the cohort participants. We will apply high dimensional technology, including multiplex immunoassays (Luminex), advanced flow cytometry, ELISA, T cell proliferation assays, antigen-specific immune response profiling, CYTOF mass cytometry and more for detailed analyses of antigen-specific cellular immune responses after infection and vaccination. This is a collaborative project with research environments in other departments and with hospitals in the Oslo region.

We are therefore looking for scientific competency and committed immunologists to become part of our team. The researchers will work in a project group with several researchers and engineers at NIPH led by group leader Senior Scientist Siri Mjaaland and in close collaboration with immunologists, biostatisticians, and epidemiologists at NIPH, Oslo University Hospital, and the University of Oslo.

The Department for Methods Development and Analytics is a national competence environment for advanced methods and approaches in infection and environmental immunology, epidemiology, and microbial genomics. A position as a researcher in our department means varied tasks, strong teamwork, and the opportunity to contribute to solving societal important public health issues.
