Student Intern for European Affairs in Statkraft’s Brussels office

We are looking to hire a Student intern in a temporary 10 months position in the Corporate Relations unit.

Corporate Relations is responsible for Statkraft’s communication and public affairs work. This unit consists of 17 highly competent and passionate employees organized in three teams; Public Relations, Brand and Digital, and Politics, Ownership and Climate. The Politics, Ownership and Climate team is responsible for positioning Statkraft’s priorities and interests among political stakeholders, has a key role in Statkraft's work with political and regulatory issues in Norway, Europe and internationally, and coordinates regulatory and policy work, both internally in the company, and in external fora where Statkraft participates.

The student intern will be part of the Politics, Ownership and Climate team. The intern will support the daily work of the EU Manager in Brussels. The Statkraft Brussels office main responsibilities are to:

  • Assess relevant political processes in the EU and member States
  • Assess the relevance of legislative EU and other proposals and consequences for Statkraft
  • Ensure that relevant information is forwarded to the respective Business Areas in Statkraft
  • Assess other companies positions in Brussels
  • Build and use efficient network in Brussels
  • Represent Statkraft in various fora
  • Advocate Statkraft positions  

Your role:

  • Responsibility for weekly reports about EU Affairs
  • Participation in external meetings and preparation of background material and summaries
  • Assessment of EU documents and relevance for Statkraft
  • Assessment of other companies’ positions
  • Assessment of EU Institutions’ positions and work processes
  • Internal coordination of Statkraft’s input to EU consultations
  • Networking with other trainees and stakeholders in Brussels
  • Prepare for meetings and presentations
  • Administrative work

The exact composition of your internship will be decided more in detail upon entry, based on organizational needs and the candidate profile. The internship will give you valuable insight of energy and climate policy and excellent experience on continuous discussions with team members, and possibilities to participate in internal and external meetings and seminars. Your profile

  • Master degree in Political science, law or economics and with good results
  • Interest of EU energy and climate policies, drivers and processes
  • Ability to assess large amounts of information and communicate the most important elements to various stakeholders
  • A positive team player, and with good communication and collaboration skills
  • Curios to learn, and not afraid to question status quo
  • Analytical and with digital skills
  • International experience and mindset
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English

Statkraft manages critical infrastructure and services in several countries. The applicant must be eligible for security clearance and authorisation.

 About the student internship:

  • The student intern needs to be connected to a university and with student status
  • The chosen candidate applies for a post-Master Erasmus scholarship or similar
  • The internship is unpaid, but you will receive a set of monthly compensation to contribute to living expenses
  • The internship is for a period of 10 months
