Service Engineer - Dynamic Positioning Software

 Definition

The Service Engineer for the Kongsberg Maritime (KM) Dynamic Positioning Software Group (DPSW) will work on DP releases in both the delivery and after sales phases.  They will provide technical support remote from home, in the office, and onboard vessels to customers and colleagues.

Responsibility/Tasks

  • Produce technical assistance in the field related to on call assignments and combined Hardware and Software related issues
  • Attend sea trials during commissioning to complete the delivery
  • Attend vessels to conduct service work
  • Travel on short notice inside and outside of the Gulf of Mexico service region
  • Responsible for reporting errors or defects on equipment delivered, and suggest improvements using our KM Problems & Improvements database
  • Provide technical assistance to sales, after sales and our customers
  • Assist service coordination group with service setup and execution
  • Produce and review Statistical Capability plots
  • Responsible for updating service desk, version control software and documentation after customer acceptance tests and service regulated by the procedures PRO-2029, PRO-1006 and HBO-0004
  • Participate in 24-hour duty phone when needed, including availability for vessel off hire situations
  • Report problems and suggest improvements using KM tools as quality control responsible
  • Other tasks designated from department manager

  • Carry out actions to prevent errors within our delivery and after sales deliveries
  • Suggest improvements on our products and report needs to Service Manager or main office
  • Make proactive suggestions to customers on available upgrades and new products while visiting onboard
  • Identify and report incidents, improvements, and needs to Service Manager
