Statkraft AS

Senior Software Developer

Energi- og vannforsyning

The Front / Middle / Back Office (FMB) development team is a specialist software development team in Statkraft’s Nordic Software Development department that delivers software services and tools for the equity and commodity trading, risk analysis, finance, and compliance business areas in Statkraft. On a technical level, we deliver a wide range of solutions ranging from web applications to advanced analytics tools.

Custom software development is essential for Statkraft to remain a market leader in energy trading solutions and we are now looking for great people to join our software development team. If you enjoy challenging yourself and working in a competitive industry where technology is evolving the business we operate in, then we would love to talk to you. If you are motivated by working for a company that is a key part of the solution for creating an environmentally sustainable society then Statkraft is the company for you. Statkraft is exploring new ways of working.

As part of the team you will be required to work closely with business users in our world-wide offices in the trading, risk, finance, and compliance sections of the company, and you will learn a lot about international commodity and financial asset trading and risk management. Our service technology stack consists of GitLab CI/CD deployed Linux based containers with .net 5/6 server applications. All business functionality is exposed in Python client libraries and custom tooling written in Python. Work is coordinated in weekly sprints using JIRA. System documentation is written in Confluence and end user documentation in Python Sphinx.

Your role:

  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient, and testable code
  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting
  • Review and debug code
  • Perform validation and verification testing
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
  • Participate in the software architecture design
  • Critically analyze business requirements and translate them into concise technical solutions
  • Participate in the upskilling of business users to become citizen developers. This will require explaining technical foundations as well as intricacies of programming. Pair development will be required. The business users are eager to learn; here, you have an opportunity to shape a new generation to code to correct standards.

Your profile:

  • High level of Python 3.6+ and C# (.NET 4/5/6) knowledge
  • Be eager to share knowledge and train business users to become citizen developers
  • Proven track record of relevant work experience in software development including conversing in English within a diverse international business, defining and explaining software development tasks and seeing tasks through to completion

Other useful skills:

  • Mathematical understanding
  • Experience in handling or analyzing time series data
  • Experience with trading and or middle office processes is a bonus
  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS is an advantage, but web development is not the main focus

Statkraft offers:

  • Professional and personal development in an exciting company
  • A positive working environment characterized by expertise, responsibility, and innovation
  • A diverse workplace with regard to gender, age and cultural background
  • Competitive terms of employment and excellent benefit schemes

The position is located in Oslo. Some travelling must be expected.
