A 3-year position as Research Scientist/Postdoc Fellow in computational biology/bioinformatics/machine learning is available at the Department of Cancer Immunology, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital. The position will be part of the Lymphoma Biology Group, headed by Associate Prof. June H. Myklebust. The position is available from June 1th, 2023.

The Myklebust group is one of seven groups in the new Centre of Excellence, Precision Immunotherapy Alliance (PRIMA). We offer a dynamic and stimulating international scientific environment and a young, enthusiastic and motivated team with multidisciplinary expertise. Projects in the group span from basic, translational and preclinical cancer research. We study genomics and cellular composition in the tumor microenvironment to identify prognostic and predictive biomarkers. In addition, we aim to identify and target immunosuppressive cells that limit clinical responses to immunotherapy (https://ous-research.no/lymphomabiology/ ). The Institute for Cancer Research offers outstanding research facilities for translational cancer research, including modern laboratory space and hosts state-of-the-art core facilities for next-generation sequencing, flow/mass cytometry and imaging.  

The objective of the current project is to gain new insight into the diversity of immunosuppressive regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the tumor microenvironment by utilizing cancer patient material for single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq), spatial transcriptomics and proteomics technologies. The project involves multimodal computational and machine learning methods on available large datasets, both single-cell and bulk RNA-seq data, to identify cellular states associated with clinical outcome. Another objective is to identify vulnerable genes in Tregs by perturbation screens, with CITE-seq as readout. The candidate will work in team with other lab members and collaborators, including experts in cell biology and immunology, bioinformaticians, clinicians and statisticians. The candidate will be encouraged to supervise bioinformatics students and to build independent research activity.
