Elkem Carbon Solutions is the world leading supplier of carbon paste and speciality products to the ferroalloys, silicon and aluminium industries. Our R&D department in Kristiansand seeks a new team member with special responsibility for raw materials. We are looking for a candidate with good team player abilities and result orientation, who enjoys resolving scientific challenges combined with practical, customer driven development.
The R&D department of Elkem Carbon Solutions is a team of highly qualified professionals. In our efforts towards a more sustainable future, the department carries out development projects within raw materials, product development, technical customer support and research.

Most important areas of responsibility:

• Raw material follow-up and raw material development
• Projects within raw material development and related product development and research
• Project management and execution in cooperation with customers internally and externally in Norway and abroad 
• Disseminate critical knowledge in the organization
• Continuous improvement based on the development activities
• Project initiation and project initiative evaluation
• Coordinate work with other key functions in the division
• Promote and commit to divisional targets and standards

Qualifications required for the position:

• University degree within material science, metallurgy, inorganic chemistry, or related field
• Advanced understanding of metallurgical carbon with respect to raw materials, products and processes is preferred
• Preferred experience from raw material- and product development
• Fluent in English

We are looking for a precise and efficient professional, who are motivated by teamwork, and have strong communication skills and customer orientation. In order to succeed in this position, we believe you must have relevant background or have educational and personal characteristics well suited to develop into our new raw material specialist.

The position is part of the R&D-team in Kristiansand, and reports to the R&D-director of Elkem Carbon Solutions.
