lkem ASA is developing a new business entity defined as Elkem Advanced Battery Materials AS and is seeking a QHSE manager to join this exciting entrepreneurial venture! The successful candidate will be motivated by a fast-paced environment and will be responsible for building and managing the quality and HSE systems of the new entity.

A key aspect of the position is to build highly effective systems for word-class quality and HSE standards as we seek to make our mark in the rapidly growing electric vehicle battery industry. 

A high degree of interpersonal contact, internally and externally, as well as planning, analysis and proactive contact with suppliers, authorities and customers is required. The position requires some international travelling.

Most important areas of responsibility:

• Ensure the best practices are employed for safety of our employees, investments and our communities
• Develop and ensure that the quality management system is digitalized and fits the requirements of various future projects and applicable standards in automotive and electronics markets
• Responsible for implementing and developing Company HSE system
• Define and implement the company audit plan in accordance with existing and relevant new coming standards for the industry
• Contribute to the overall development, maintenance, and improvement required management system
• Work with management team and operations to develop simple and effective QHSE objectives
• The person will act as company focal point for QHSE matters
• Advise company organization and top-level management in relation to QHSE requirements and public regulations
• Perform periodic analysis of QHSE statistics and communicate output with recommendations to the management team
• Follow-up and measure effect of QHSE improvement, procedures, tools, and systems
• Take responsibility of the crisis management process and co-ordinate drills/exercises as per plan
• Provide oversight to the incident investigation process to ensure robust implementation of methodology, lessons learned are understood, shared, and implemented effectively

Qualifications required for the position:

• Master’s Degree in appropriate science (e.g. chemical, engineering, math, statistics)
• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience. Experience from chemical industry, process industry, battery industry or automotive is an advantage
• Previous experience as a QHSE manager and at least 5 years of experience specifically in a quality function
• Enjoy working in a high pace environment 
• Energetic with the ability to drive implementations and improvements
• Good team player
• Fluent in English and Norwegian (preferably)

 

The position reports to General Manager, Europe, and is located in Oslo or Kristiansand. The employee must expect some traveling and to stay in other locations in periods.
