The main activities of the business area Markets & IT (M) are energy management for Statkraft’s assets, trading & origination and market access services in Europe, South America and India. The business area also contains IT services and local business support, finance and risk support. In M there are more than 700 employees.

Nordic Energy Management (ME) is part of the business area Markets & IT, and is responsible for optimizing the value of Statkraft's Nordic hydropower portfolio. The portfolio is one of Europe's largest, with a total installation of over 11,000 MW in Norway and Sweden. In addition to the hydropower portfolio, ME also manages the position of a growing wind portfolio which is currently approximately 2000 MW. In ME, there are around 85 employees working in an integrated business process that includes hydrology, market analysis, production planning and power trading.

The power market analysis department (MEM) support several business units in Statkraft. We follow drivers and provide insights into relevant markets for Statkraft. Our core power markets are the Nordic and Continental markets, but we also provide modelling expertise for new markets for Statkraft. We are 23 highly qualified and dedicated power market analysts working in Oslo and Trondheim. We are now seeking creative and proactive co-workers with higher technical/economical degree to join our team. We encourage both recent graduates and experienced candidates to apply.  

Price forecasts are amongst our most important deliveries and are used as decision support in Statkraft’s physical and financial trading, as well as investment analyses and strategic priorities. 

We currently run four different market models. It is crucial for us to maintain and develop industry-leading capabilities and expertise within power market modelling. This entails being on top of digitalization and automation, and scripting is a central enabler. We continuously improve processes and tools, also in close collaboration with our highly competent IT department in Statkraft. 

We are certainly a quantitative environment, but it is equally important to interpret and communicate our analyses. For our customers, the real value lays in the qualitative assessment and interpretation of the forecast. 

Our deliveries are a product of teamwork. It is important that you are a team player, that you share your knowledge, show interest in the work of others and enjoy working closely with colleagues.  

Your profile: 

• University/Masters’ degree in Economics/ Econometrics, Mathematics/ Statistics, Physics or similar
• You have a keen interest in energy markets.
• Experience with power and/or energy market models is an advantage, but not a requirement 
• Excellent communication skills in English and preferably one or more languages (Spanish, French,       Italian, Portuguese or Scandinavian language) 
• Scripting experience, Python, is an advantage
