PhD fellowship in T cell liver immunology at the Norwegian PSC Research Center
The Norwegian PSC Research Center (NoPSC) at the Oslo University Rikshospitalet (OUH) and University of Oslo (UiO) is a dynamic, world-leading institute dedicated to understanding and developing treatments for the chronic liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). Research at NoPSC covers a comprehensive translational portfolio from basic mechanism and animal models to biomarker discovery and clinical trials.
We invite highly motivated candidates with an interest in liver disease, immunology and molecular biology to apply for this 3 year PhD fellowship.
The successful applicant will study the role of T cells in PSC – a disease of the bile ducts, that has no medical treatment, affects the young (30-40 years) and carries a high risk of cancer (15-20%). T cells infiltrate diseased livers and are key effector lymphocytes that regulate inflammation upon recognition of specific molecules (antigens). This project will use single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics to identify inflammatory liver T cells and develop novel reporter cell lines to assess how specific T cells drive chronic liver disease in PSC.
The PhD position is affiliated with the Experimental Hepatology group (Melum) at NoPSC and the main supervisor of the successful candidate will be senior researcher Brian K Chung.
Applications are only accepted through Webcruiter and must include:
- Cover letter stating motivation, research interest and ideal start date
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Educational certificates (academic transcripts)
- Two reference contacts; detail relationship to candidate, contact e-mail and phone number
