PhD Fellow in Cancer Immunology

Offentlig forvaltning

A PhD position in cancer immunology is available from September 2023 at the Department of Cancer Immunology, Institute for Cancer Research, Oslo University Hospital.

We are seeking a suitable candidate for a 3-year PhD position for the project: TIME for CAR T in Norway; Role of Tumor Immune MicroEnvironment in CD19 CAR T-cell therapy. The project is funded by Norwegian Health Authorities and led by senior researcher Kanutte Huse. We will use the cutting-edge technology imaging mass cytometry to investigate biopsies from patients receiving CAR-T cell immunotherapy as part of clinical trials. The aim is to uncover resistance mechanisms to CAR-T cell therapy. Findings will be functionally validated in organoids and mouse models. The candidate will work in a team with other lab members and collaborators including bioinformaticians, experts in cell biology and immunology, clinicians and statisticians.

The position will be part of the Lymphoma Biology Group, headed by Associate Prof. June H. Myklebust. The Myklebust group is one of seven groups in the new Centre of Excellence, Precision Immunotherapy Alliance (PRIMA). We offer a dynamic and stimulating international scientific environment and a young, enthusiastic and motivated team with multidisciplinary expertise. Projects in the group span from basic to translational and preclinical cancer research. We study genomics and cellular composition in the tumor microenvironment to identify prognostic and predictive biomarkers. In addition, we aim to identify and target immunosuppressive cells that limit clinical responses to immunotherapy (https://ous-research.no/lymphomabiology/ ). The Institute for Cancer Research offers outstanding research facilities for translational cancer research, including modern laboratory space and hosts state-of-the-art core facilities for next-generation sequencing, flow/mass cytometry and imaging.
