One-year position as scientific assistant in heart research at Akershus University Hospital (Ahus)
Offentlig forvaltning
About Akershus University Hospital (Ahus)
Ahus is Norway's largest emergency hospital, as well as local and area hospital for close to 10% of Norway's population. We have a rapidly growing research environment at a high international level that supports the development of priority medical and health professional focus areas. There is good access to research support, including research administration, information and communications technology, biobank, statistics, and more. The research takes place in close collaboration with the University of Oslo, which has built up a broadly equipped research laboratory. Ahus’ vision is: "Humanly close - professionally strong".
Background
Heart failure is a major cause of death globally. Heart failure is a complex syndrome with multiple causes, where the heart´s ability to pump and fill with blood is impaired. Common to almost all heart disease is cardiac fibrosis, which is associated with increased mortality. Cardiac fibrosis is build-up of connective tissue in the heart, and has been described as the largest unmet medical need in heart failure. Our translational research group seeks to understand the molecular pathways underlying fibrosis in the heart. We use patient biopsies and blood, mouse models and cell cultures in our research.
About the position
We have an opening for a full-time one-year position as scientific assistant in the research group of Dr. Ida G. Lunde at Ahus. We seek a strongly motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join our group. The Lunde group is part of newly established KG Jebsen Centre for Cardiac Biomarkers (2022-2027), headed by Prof Torbjørn Omland. The laboratory work will be performed at the EpiGen laboratory at Ahus, affiliated with the University of Oslo, while the mouse models are located at University of Oslo, Domus Medica. A three-year PhD may become a possible, and motivation for a PhD is a prerequisite for employment in this position.
