Your department:

The Corporate Politics & Ownership unit has a key role in Statkraft's work with political and regulatory issues in Norway, Europe and internationally. The unit coordinates regulatory and policy work, both internally in the company, and in external forums where Statkraft participates.

The Statkraft Brussels office main responsibilities are to:

  • Assess relevant political processes in the EU and member States
  • Assess the relevance of legislative EU and other proposals and consequences for Statkraft
  • Coordinate participation of consultation responses
  • Ensure that relevant information is forwarded to the respective Business Areas in Statkraft
  • Assess other companies’ positions in Brussels
  • Build and use efficient network in Brussels
  • Represent Statkraft in various fora
  • Advocate Statkraft positions  
  • Prepare and organise high-level visits and meetings

Your role:

  • Make an impact: right from the beginning, you will be able to asses and report on developments of key policy in the EU and Member States, and also on new EU initiatives and progresses to Statkraft Management Team
  • Analytics: Contribute to the analyses of current positioning and development of stakeholders
  • Learning on the job: You will be capable of understanding and conveying information on the processes of the EU institutions
  • Creativity: Assist in developing background material and summaries for high-level meetings and events
  • Participation in external meetings, networking with other trainees and stakeholders in Brussels

About you:

We are looking to hire a student trainee in a temporary 10 months position, to support the daily work of the EU Manager in Brussels with a wide range of tasks. As a Student trainee you will be involved in work across several topics related to European energy and climate policy, from Green Deal to Taxonomy and emergency responses. You will be part of a small team of experiences colleagues where such issues are discussed. A prerequisite is that you are a self-starter and can work independently.  This is a unique opportunity to gain experience from the energy sector and European politics at a very exciting time.

  • Master’s degree in political science, law or economics and with good results
  • Interest of EU energy and climate policies, drivers and processes
  • Interested in learning about EU policy processes and topics relevant for the power sector
  • Ability to assess large amounts of information and communicate the most important elements to relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze political and commercial contexts
  • Ability to handle short deadlines and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • A proactive team player, and with good communication and collaboration skills
  • Curious to learn, and not afraid to question status quo
  • International experience and mindset
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English
  • You hold a valid student status
  • The chosen candidate applies for a post-Master Erasmus scholarship or similar
