HSE SUPERINTENDENT

About Tidong Power Generation Pvt. Ltd. – The Tidong hydropower project is located on Tidong River, a tributary of Sutlej River, in district of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh, in north-western India. The planned installed capacity of plant is 150 MW.  Tidong was acquired by statkraft in 2018, owning 100 % shares in NSL Tidong Power Generation Private Limited, the acquisition is in line with Statkraft's strategy to develop renewable energy generation, building on Statkraft's more than 120 years of hydropower experience.

Objective : To ensure that health and safety is given the highest priority in the area of Supervision on the project.

Your role:

• Implement the project HSE Management System.
• Ensure all requirements of the Life Saving Rules are implemented on site.
• Manage where required Safety Supervisors.
• Undertake daily site inspections and deliver the results to HSE Manager.
• Monitor and assess the implementation of safe work methods and procedures.
• Suggest improvements to safety methods and procedures, when necessary.
• Identify, assess and take necessary action when hazardous situations arise in the work area.
• Work very closely and coordinate with the construction management teams.
• Conduct training sessions for the Owner’s and Contractor’s employees when requested.
• Ensure all injuries and incidents in area of concern are reported and investigated adequately.
• Assist medical personnel in undertaking health monitoring on site when requested by the HSE Manager.
• Assist the contractors HSE personnel deliver briefings and toolbox talks.
• When requested, undertake audits of systems or procedures.
• Report to Project HSE Manager.

Your profile:

• Expatriates are preferred for this role with university Degree or Diploma with 10+ years of experience in heavy construction and Hydropower projects.
• Preferred NEBOSH or equivalent certificate, Diploma in Industrial Safety (Optional).
• Understanding of HSE in construction projects with knowledge of international and/or Indian HSE legislation and regulations.
• Working experience in multicultural environment and remote are experience is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills - both written and spoken.
• Perform actions on own initiative/autonomy.
• Well conversant to work with an organization of high ethical standards.
• Ability to converse with differing levels of line management in the field of construction and tunneling.
