Head of Legal Operations in Statkraft Corporate Legal

The key functions of Corporate Legal (LE) are to support Statkraft’s business areas in achieving their commercial goals, to manage legal risk throughout the Group’s activities and to ensure that the business areas conduct their activities in accordance with applicable law and consistent with the overall strategies of the Statkraft Group. 

To strengthen our team, we are now looking for an experienced person to lead our efforts to further develop efficient and streamlined operations of LE, including in the areas of knowledge management, digitalization, financial management, vendor management and competence development.  The position will be located at Statkraft Head Quarters in Oslo.

Working in Corporate Legal

Corporate Legal (LE) is responsible for providing legal advice and legal risk management to the whole Statkraft Group, supporting the Statkraft strategy and business activities globally. LE currently consists of about 55 employees in Norway, Sweden, UK, Ireland, USA, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Albania, Turkey, India, Brazil, Chile and Peru.

The Head of Legal Operations position will report to the Chief Legal Officer and be part of the Legal Management Team. The position will initially have two direct reports and be heading a team of currently in total five employees working on various legal operations topics.

As part of this role, you will have the following main responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning, including supporting in identifying and following up KPI’s and prioritized actions in Legal, doing benchmarking exercises etc.
  • Knowledge management, including systems for knowledge sharing and storage, standardisation of agreements and other legal documents and structures for collaboration within Legal
  • Digitalisation, including identifying, implementing and maintaining efficient digital tools for Legal to streamline new or existing practices, identifying legal tech opportunities as well as managing design, rollout, and training for new systems
  • Financial and vendor management, including forecasting and monitoring internal and external costs and developing processes and policies to manage external counsel
  • Company governance, incl. processes, standards and systems for legal company governance of the Statkraft Group companies
  • Competence development, including identifying and supporting training needs for Legal and training of internal clients
  • Leadership of legal operations resources in Legal

About you:

Competence and experience:

  • Excellent degree in law, business administration, finance or other relevant area
  • Substantial experience within the legal industry (in law firms or in-house) and with legal operations, including knowledge management, digitalization, financial management, vendor management, competence development
  • Knowledge of core legal areas is preferable, such as mergers and acquisitions, company law, energy regulatory law and contract law
  • Tech-savvy and well-versed in legal software, tools, and applications
  • Substantial business knowledge and international experience
  • Management experience, with strong communication and network building skills
  • High proficiency in written and spoken Norwegian and English, other languages an advantage

Personal skills:

  • A self-aware, self-confident individual who is proactive in identifying areas of need, generating action plans and able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs
  • Demonstrated ability to use change management practices to facilitate transitions related to technology, processes and people
  • Efficient, independent and solution-oriented personality, with high personal integrity and ethical standards
  • Great social and communication skills, with ability to lead, teach and help others learn

The position will be located at the Statkraft headquarters in Oslo, Norway. Travelling may be required.
