Elkem ASA is developing a new business entity defined as Elkem Advanced Battery Materials AS and is seeking a Global Commercial Director to join this exciting entrepreneurial venture!

DESCRIPTION

The Global Commercial Director will be accountable for the hiring, development and retention of a direct channeled sales team which will be based in the US, Norway and Europe. He/she will establish the processes for Key Account/Business Development Managers and a Customer Service group which they will be responsible for hiring and developing as the Elkem Advanced Battery Materials (EABM) business grows.

The Commercial Director must effectively interface with the Vice President, VP/GM of Europe, R&D and other function management in order to accomplish the sales objectives and tactically coordinate the needs of customers in the battery and automotive OEM markets. Travel will be frequent between the US and Europe, especially during the initial phase of the development of EABM’s business.

The incumbent in this position must organize with a digital mindset the opportunity/prospect portfolio, sales developments and contract proposals in accordance with strategic vision, with input from sales, customer service, plants, legal, transportation, and the customers that result in sales growth. There will be global interaction within the business to coordinate sales efforts for global contracts.

REQUIREMENTS

· BS degree in marketing, business, chemistry, material science, engineering, or equivalent relevant work experience of at least 5 years.

· At minimum, 5-7 years of successful sales experience in an industrial manufacturing or regulated environment. Chemistry, Battery or Automotive knowledge is a plus.

· Proven management experience and strong leadership skills required. Prior experience in global leadership or interacting globally is preferred.

· Experience in both short and long-term strategic planning along with successful implementation of plans.

· Demonstrates financial and business acumen and an ability to analyze, understand and utilize data.

· Proven communication skills enabling ability to function in international, matrix organization.

· Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.

· Contract negotiation experience required.

· Proven skills using systems and PC applications including experience with MS Office tools and CRM database.

· Project management skills required.

· Ability to interact successfully with all levels of the organization as well as to positively impact and influence others in order to achieve business objectives.

· Effective presentation, oral and written communication skills.

· Must be able to travel as much as 50% of the time, domestically and internationally (primarily US, Norway, and Europe, but alsoKorea, and Japan).
