An exciting opportunity has arisen as Director PM and Electric Motor Technology, reporting to SVP Technology P&E.

In this role, you will be a part of the Technology team and leading the work on current Permanent Magnet (PM) Motor Technologies and future Electric Motor technologies to be used across our product solutions.

You will be responsible for developing proposals of research areas and specific product development applications of motors that will meet current and future requirements from the business. This will include efficient, safe, reliable and cost-effective systems for the full life cycle of our products. Plans for motor technology shall be developed and coordinated in collaboration with a network of key skilled people in the division, wider company and with external parties.

The strategic aspects of a motor and how it is integrated with drives and the electric system is a key area to define and govern. The electric motor roadmap must visualize the development plans and be fully aligned with product and technology roadmaps. The need to engage and collaborate with the engineering teams and product owners in the business is essential for success.

In this role you will lead a skilled group of engineers and support the business in complex problem solving related to motors.

 

Key accountabilities

• Define and lead the strategy for Permanent Magnet (PM) and electric motor strategy in accordance with overall industry drivers, KM and P&E strategy.
• Lead the work for development plans for current and future motor technologies, ensuring it meets our business requirements and aligns to the divisional strategies. Visualized through a motor roadmap.
• Establish and lead a skill group of key engineers related to electric motor technology and engage the team in development of strategies, plans and problem solving.
• Lead specific research initiatives, govern and support overall motor development initiatives in the business and with external parties in order to deliver on agreed roadmap and budget frames.
• Define synergies and alignment across the division, and provide technical expertise and support to the business on electric motor technologies and benefits
• Safe and reliable solutions according to business processes
• Active IP management

 

Qualifications and experience

• Technical engineering background (Master of Science or similar) preferable with a specific electric/ElectroMagnetic focus.
• Extensive experience of working with PM electric and electric motors in Propulsion product applications or other closely linked applications such as for example generators.
• Good business acumen understanding the importance of motors and how it is linked to electric systems, system cost and business successes now and in the future.
• Motivation for engaging and leading a network of key skills for the success of our division.
