Job Summary:

DNO is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East region and the North Sea. Founded in 1971, DNO is Norway’s oldest oil company. With a leading position in terms of reserves and production in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, DNO produces around 110,000 barrels of oil per day from the flagship Tawke field. 

He/she will be Head of Drilling’s representative in Erbil responsible for drilling contracting and technical interface with the MNR. Responsible for managing technical tendering activities for services and equipment required for Kurdistan drilling operations in line with approved Procurement Procedures.

In the tender preparation phases prepares strategy, scope of work and other required documentation working closely with the Supply Chain contract team and Contract Holder/ Well Engineering team. Supports presentation of strategy to partners and MNR. In the evaluation phase responsible for technical evaluation of tenderers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedules equipment and service requirements for company drilling programs working closely with Contract Holders within the drilling team.
• Ensures the drilling department well engineering and operational requirements are fully understood and addressed through the tendering process.
• Prepares tender strategies in conjunction with supply chain team.
• Prepares detailed scope of work and budgetary cost estimates.
• Works with HSSE specialists provide HSSE evaluations.
• Provides technical evaluation and prepares input for contract award papers.
• Supports Supply Chain team and Asset Managers in discussions with partners and MNR.
• Supports supply chain team in contract award negotiations.
• Erbil based technical expert resource for Drilling and Well Services as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 15+ years+ experience in Drilling Operations and Drilling Engineering.
• 5 years Kurdistan experience including contracting activities.
• Bachelor or master’s Degree in petroleum engineering or relevant subject.
• Experience in tendering work and working within requirements of detailed procurement procedures.

• Excellent communications skills in verbal and written English.
• Demonstrates sound technical writing capabilities.
• Strong HSSE focus with understanding of HSSE Management systems.
• Broad knowledge of current technologies applicable to land / regional drilling.

The role reports to Head of Drilling and will be a resident role based in Erbil office in Kurdistan, with travel to Dubai office.
