Development Engineer Controls and electronics

Shipshave AS is a startup company developing the only In-Transit Cleaning of ship Hulls (ITCH). Cleaner hulls can eliminate CO2 emissions equivalent to Norway's total emissions. Our business model will enable shipowners to maintain hulls themselves while the ship is operating saving time and money.  We progress our projects with over-the-table decisions, access to full scale testing and engaged customers. You thrive because we move fast and deliver meaningful results. We are a small team with proven entrepreneurial successes and financial resources.  We shall develop Shipshave ITCH into a platform for hull performance going beyond cleaning hulls. You can help deliver technology to make the shipping industry sustainable. We need to strengthen our development team and need a Development Engineer Controls and Electronics. If you are competent to develop ideas into commercial products, then we desire your application. 

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Develop, refine and maintain control methods for current and future tool operating modes.
  • Select, develop and maintain electrical hardware including micro-controllers, sensors and auxiliary hardware.
  • Develop and establish company standards and work procedures.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including user manuals and troubleshooting guides.
  • Contribute to the general development of the Company.
Experience and competence:
  • Electrical, Software, cybernetics or related engineering degree (BSc or MSc). 
  • 2-5 years experience with software and embedded systems.
  • Familiar with Python, C and C++ programming languages.
  • Experience using standard code repository tools, and code development methodologies.
  • Electrical assembly techniques and manufacturing upscaling.
  • Experience with CE product documentation and requirements a plus but not required.
  • Basic experience with ECAD layout tools a plus but not required.
Personal characteristics:
  • The successful candidate should be a self-starter, hands on engineer, working as a primary contributor and specialist in a small company.
  • Able to setup and troubleshoot own tests to develop and validate.
  • Creative thinker, results oriented, flexible with good attention to detail.
