Contract Manager – Project Procurement
Location: Den Bosch, Amsterdam or London

If you are an experienced Procurement professional with international experience, then we want to hear from you. As a result of growth in investments and operations, Statkraft now has an exciting opportunity for a Contract Manager to join our existing Project Procurement team.

Statkraft’s Procurement department is responsible for processes and tools for procurement and performing major procurement activities.  The department is leading strategic procurement within all technologies such as Hydropower, Solar, Onshore and Offshore Windpower, in Norway, Sweden, UK, Germany, South-East Europe, South Asia and South America.

As the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for large and complex procurement processes for projects internationally. As part of different project teams, you will have responsibilities for all phases from early contract strategy; supplier market analysis, supplier prequalification, managing the tendering process, contract negotiations and follow up of contracts & projects. As one of the key commercial people within the project team, the responsibilities should be undertaken with a sound knowledge of the project economics to maximise overall profitability. The role can be based anywhere in Europe in our office in the Netherlands or the UK.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • You will oversee large and complex procurement processes for projects in Northern Europe.
  • As part of different project teams you will have responsibilities for all phases from early oversight of engineering and development, contract strategy; supplier market analysis, technology forecasting, supplier prequalification, managing the tendering process, contract negotiations and follow up of contracts & projects.
  • A typical challenge is to be able to handle different cultures as a consequence of partners, suppliers, and countries we invest in.  You must be committed to protect Statkraft’s high standards within health, safety and the environment and to prevent corruption.
  • The working area will be solar power, within a wider team which deals with hydropower and wind.  
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to keep up to date with market and technology trends. 
  • Support other teams across the company with their interactions with suppliers and contractors.
  • Negotiate best possible commercial and legal terms with identified suppliers, with respect to the contracting priorities driven by each project’s financial model.
  • Use Statkraft’s technical knowledge and commercial leverage from the various regions to ensure the best commercial agreements possible can be reached.
  • Ensure that profitability is maximized whilst considering any corporate social responsibility impacts of the company’s procurements decisions.
  • Ensure that a regular review of each supplier takes place to ensure they are compliant with relevant industry standards.
  • Monitor service levels maintained by suppliers and quality of goods in line with relevant industry standards.
  • Effective and efficient contract management and order fulfillment.
  • Attend and facilitate project meetings to ensure projects have the right operational support and inputs at the right time.

 What we are looking for:

  • Ideally 5 years + of experience from large energy, building- and construction contracts or complex oil and gas contracts/subcontracting.
  • 2 years minimum experience in a purchasing/contracting role (ideally within the PV industry).
  • An understanding of financial modelling and non-capex methods to optimise project value.
  • Experience of working with international suppliers, negotiating and procuring cost reduction.
  • A legal understanding of the purchasing process.
  • Strong Communication skills both written and oral.
  • Able to master negotiations and draw up contracts in English.
  • International experience.
  • Degree in business and/or technical areas.
  • Knowledge of the PV industry and equipment used.
  • Knowledge of contractors for relevant markets.
  • Experience of Supplier Evaluation processes.
  • Fluent in English. Dutch desirable for European role
  • An understanding of manufacturing, transport methods, supply chains, costs and processes.
  • Experience of using ERP systems (Ideally SAP).
  • Business orientation and commercial mindset.
  • Team player & ability to influence.
  • Willingness to travel and to mobility.
